TRAVERSE CITY KENNEL CLUB - ANNUAL SHOW
This year Rally Obedience will be on Friday, June 16th only, and Saturday & Sunday, June 17 & 18 will be the conformation and obedience. I do have premiums here at the training center if you wish to enter the show. Entries close at noon on May 31st. There will be canine freestyle demonstrations on Saturday at noon. Also this year will be Therapy Dog Inc. (TDI) and Canine Good Citizen CGC) testing on Saturday June 17th from 10 AM to 3 PM. In Obedience, veterns and pre-novice will be on Saturday only. Be sure and watch the Puppy Extravaganza on Saturday to see who wins the Best Puppy in Show. All of this will be at the civic center in Traverse City. Only dogs registered for this event can be on the grounds.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) & THERAPY DOG (TDI) - PRACTICE
The AKC started the CGC program in 1989 as a means of rewarding dogs who are well behaved companions at home and in the community. This test is open to purebred dogs as well as mixed breed dogs. Thanks to this program, Peetie, my Sheltie, was able to visit me in the hospital this past February. It was a pre-arranged visit with the hospital. It certainly helped my mental attitude. On Wednesday, June 7th at 7 PM, there will be a session to go over the 10 different "tests" dogs will be expected to do to pass the CGD & a few more for the TDI testing. Cost is $20 per dog. This should prepare you for the testing at the GT Kennel Club on Saturday, June 17.

TEACUP AGILITY- available to dogs 17" and under at the shoulder (withers)
Things are getting organized for our summer teacup events. We are having a Games Workshop on Saturday, July 1st here at the training center. Becky Dean, from Dublin Ohio will be our instructor. She will be explaining some of the strategy on how to play the games such as Snooker, Dare to Double, etc. On Sunday, July 2nd, Becky will be judging a teacup trial which will consist of 2 standard courses & 2 games.

July 15th we are having a Fun Day for teacup dogs. Plenty of food and fun for dog & humans. Games are being organized for the dogs, and I am told there will be "prizes", too.

August 26 & 27 will be our 2nd teacup trial for 2006 here at the training center. Donni Breadon will be the judge for the 2 day trial. Again 2 standard courses & 2 games are played each day.

If anyone is interested in learning more about Teacup Agility (TDDA), come to the Wednesday night practices (see listing above for dates) or you can check out the website www.dogagility.org This venue is for purebred and mixed breed dogs that are over 1 year old & are 17" and under at the shoulder (withers).

Season Pass for outside agility ring
Again this year we will be offering a season pass for $80 which will cover use of the outdoor agility ring - from June thru mid-October (usually we try to keep the equipment up outside til after the fall Midland trial.) We are moving the equipment outside on Tuesday, May 30th and could use a few extra hands. We plan to do this around 7 PM that day. Classes at the Intermediate and above level will be outside for the summer, weather permitting. For bad weather class times, classes will be indoors. This is a great opportunity to run your dog on a full size course. With the season pass, you can run as many times during the week as you want. Otherwise cost will be $15 per hour.

AGILITY SHOW-'N-GO
Saturday, June 3 - 9 AM to noon. Outdoors at the Mt. Pleasant MKC facility. Nested course, walk thrus held at the top of each hour. Cost $5 per 2 minute runs. Parking limited. Email Glenn Laffy at glaffy@netscape.net or call 989-588-4474.
