Hi Everybody -
Time is going by fast! School is out & everybody is busy, busy, busy. That's why I want to give you an update on what's going on around here.
The agility equipment is moved outside now, and agility classes will be outside weather permitting. If it is raining hard and/or just too hot, classes will be inside. There is usually a breeze out in the field, so bugs are not usually a problem. But you will want to bring a chair for you, and water for your dog. This is a full size course, all fenced in, and if your dog pees or poops in the enclosed area, we have a shovel to dig up the dirt. So please be sure and potty your dog before you enter the enclosure.
Grand Traverse Kennel Club's Conformation, Obedience & Rally Trial
THIS WEEKEND
GTKC has their annual show at the Civic Center in TC this coming weekend. Rally will be on Friday afternoon, and Saturday & Sunday will be conformation & obedience. Our friends with Dancing with your Dog will be performing at noon on Saturday. Plan to come and see the dogs perform and strut their stuff. I am told that the entries for the conformation are up from last year.
Teacup Agility Trial here on Saturday & Sunday, June 21 & 22
Our first teacup trial for this year will be held Saturday & Sunday, June 21 & 22. If you have not seen this or like to watch the little dogs (dogs 17" & under at the withers) perform the teacup obstacles, come watch. There will be day of show entries. To check out the premium, go to our website www.pinemeadowsfarm.com We normally start around 9 AM and are done by 3 PM. We also have a potluck lunch. All first place winners will receive a dog toy.
Dog Expo, Saturday, June 28th
We are heading down the home stretch to the Dog Expo. Plans are coming together - committees are making their final arrangements. We have a few new vendors this year - Purely4Pets (a pet sitting business), Great Lakes Pet Memorial & Crematory (located near Chums Corner), & Kalkaska Citizens for Animals. Several other dog rescue groups will be there, along with the dog scouts group, tasty dog treats, breeders, and much more. Don't forget the Parade of Breeds! We still need dogs to represent the various breeds and mixed breeds are also welcome! Last year we had over 40 breeds represented, and we want to have at least 60 different breeds this year. So please contact either Jane or Jill Gwillim jillgwillim@charter.net for more information.
Also - we are going to have special T-shirts this year for the Dog Expo. They will be a light gray, 50/50 cotton/polyester with the new Dog Expo logo on them. If you want one & you order by Monday, June 16th by 5 PM, the cost is $10 ea.. Please email Jane at pine.meadows.farm@coslink.net with the size and how many you want of each size. Size 2X and larger are $12 each. If you wait and purchase them at the Dog Expo, the cost will be $15 each. So place your order now, and save money. Again, the proceeds will go to AC Paw.
We are also looking for raffle items for the Dog Expo. Carol Saylor has been out asking business and people to donate different items. We have free dinners, some free nights at local motels, plus dog items and much more! So even if you don't own a dog but can donate something (even money!) all will go to AC Paw. The raffle winners will be drawn at 4 PM on that Saturday. You must be present to win & all items must be picked up that day.
Fourth of July Parade, Fife Lake
We are going to try something different this year - come join the fun on the 4th of July and be in a parade. It's free - short parade route - and fun! Pine Meadows DTC will be the entry, but we need folks with their dogs to walk in the parade. Line up is at 12:30 PM at the Fife Lake Elementary School, and you can dress up your dog, pull a cart, or be creative! Dogs must be on a leash and under control. This is not for all dogs - as there will be noise & lots of people. Please RSVP by July 2nd to Jane if you want to be a participant.
