January 2008

Hi Everybody -

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We are excited about this year - 2008 - and have many things planned to celebrate our 10th anniversary. But we also want to hear from you regarding what you would like to see here at the training center this year. We are always interested in your comments and how we can serve you better. Drop us an email !! Stay tuned throughout the year, and again we thank all of you for your support and continuing your dog training here !

Annual Awards report
Please get your info to Lu Capra! She has received some from a few of you, but I know there is more of you out there! Anyone who has a dog(s) that has accomplished a title in 2007 should make a list with the following information per dog:owner's name, dog's name with prior titles, new titles earned in 2007. If the titles are from CPE or other registries (besides AKC and UKC), the owner should spell out what the initials mean. They can be from any dog affiliated association. This includes you folks that just got your Canine Good Citizen. Please send all the information to Lu Capra lcapra@earthlink.net Information should be emailed by January 15th, 2008 to be included on the listing.

Also, got an email from Lu today and she is coming along fine from her hip replacement. She says it is nice to not have any pain anymore, and is now doing exercises at home to strengthen the leg. She is looking forward to start training again, and she is hoping to start teaching again in April. We welcome her back and look forward to her speedy recovery!

Agility League 2008
Once again we will be having the agility league here. The first week of league will be the week of January 14, 2008 and league will end on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 (That's 8 weeks.) The league awards and banquet will be Saturday, March 15, 2008. It will be a potluck at 12:30 PM followed by the awards. This will mark 10 years that our training center has been operating, and you don't want to miss out on the special awards we have planned this year ! We have many teams already formed, and if you want to still get on a team, let me know. We are looking for some people to fill out the 3rd person on teams. Team players don't always "play the game" on the same night. Schedule will be set up so that if you are coming to a class already, the game will be played either before or after your class so you do not need to make a special trip. OR, you can NOT take a class & just come and play in the league! Cost will be $20 to play all 8 weeks of league. If you don't know anybody, but want to do league, just let me know & I will find a spot on a team for you. It is fun -- and it makes the winter fly! See the class schedule in this newsletter for days and times of league.

CAUTION: Please be aware that the intersection coming off of US 131 is NOT being plowed this winter. You can either turn on to Shippy Rd or Hudson Rd to get access to Woodman Rd. If you need help with directions, please call or email me & I would be happy to help you with alternate directions. Sorry - the county has declared the intersection where the little bypass comes on to Woodman Road as a hazardous intersection (go figure). Anyway we are trying to work out a solution with the county's red tape. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Border Collie mix looking for a home
Jazz is an approximately 2 1/2 year old female, BC mix, found as a stray on 12/7/07.
She is now in a foster home and doing very well. She is affectionate towards adults, children and gets along well with other dogs. She is being treated for whip worms, has been spayed, is heartworm negative and her shots are up to date. She loves to play ball and frisbee and has a great deal of intensity and energy. She has learned to have an "off" switch for her energy when inside, and has excellent house manners. She has also learned how to walk "nice" on a leash. She loves to cuddle on the couch and to have her tummy rubbed. This little girl is a sweetheart and is looking for a forever home.

If you are interested in adopting this girl, please contact her foster "Mom" at
